Makeup with Glow Organic

I recently discovered a fantastic website on which to find amazing green beauty, including skin, body and hair care, as well as makeup! Glow Organic Brighton is run by Mel. As a professional makeup artist she features some makeup brands that are otherwise hard to come by in the UK market, such as Hynt BeautyZaoCouleur CaramelNude & Noir. She has also recently added Nui Cosmetics to her range and will soon be stocking Antonym brushes. I’m so excited about those!

Here is the Zao Silk Foundation (refill) and the Organic Compact Powder. I have them both in the shade Ivory. The foundation, which contains Sweet Almond Oil and Organic Bamboo Leaves, is a good match for me but the powder is a little light at the moment but is perfect for setting my undereyes and will see me through Autumn and Winter.  The foundation is a natural coverage but buildable. I find it dries down quickly though so I need to blend it out fast.

Zao Matte Eyeshadows and Zao Pearly Eyeshadows . I absolutely love these eyeshadows and they are some of the best colourful formulas in green beauty. From top left along we have Pearly Eyeshadow in Peach Blossom (which really is more matte than pearly and a fantastic crease colour), Pearly Ruby & Matte Grape. On the bottom row we have Matte Olive Green, Matte Aquamarine & Pearly Azure Blue. All of the eyeshadows I have are pigmented, buildable and blendable. The shade range is fantastic, and Glow Organic offers Zao eyeshadows either in a beautiful bamboo compact, or as a refill pan only, which is ideal if like me you prefer to house all your colours in one magnetic makeup palette.

I also have the Zao Organic Blush in Lilac Pink. Again I chose the refill to go in my palette along with other depotted blushes. It is a lovely soft, cool toned pink that blends and builds beautifully. It’s my absolute favourite everyday pink blush.

Glow Organic offers all Zao products in bamboo packaging or as refills, which I think is really fantastic and I wish more companies did this, especially for eyeshadows and blushers which I like to have as pan form.

Now onto Hynt Beauty! I had seen so many rave reviews from green beauty bloggers and YouTubers on Hynt Beauty so I was beyond overjoyed when Glow Organic started stocking it! I ordered the Nocturne Mascara, the Duet Perfecting Concealer in Fair, Hynt Beauty Eyebrow Definer in Espresso.

The Nocturne Mascara certainly lived up to the rave reviews with its super black, smudge and flake free formula. It’s definitely my favourite. The wand is a bristle style and densely packed giving volume, length and separation. My only wish would be that the stick and wand were both slightly shorter, just to give a little extra control. But that’s me being extra picky!

I chose the Duet Perfecting Concealer in Fair after messaging Mel at Glow Organic about which shade to choose, and I’m glad I went with her advice to chose Fair over Light for my pink undertoned skin. I use this concealer after BB cream or foundation to conceal dark circles under my eyes, redness around my nose and any hyperpigmentation around my mouth and chin. I also use it to conceal blue veins on my eyelids and to prime them before eyeshadow. So it’s a concealer, colour corrector and eye primer all in one for me! It has a great coverage and does not crease on me whatsoever. It comes in a pot and is easily applied and blended with a clean finger. I’m so pleased with this clever concealer.

And finally the Eyebrow Definer in Espresso. This is a light wax to powder formula, which is easy to use and buildable. I use a short angled brush to outline the front underside and the top arch of the brow before filling in the front of the brow with upwards short strokes and the tail of the brow with heavier hair strokes. I find the colour perfect; it is a true brunette with an ashy undertone but importantly does not pull red or green. The colour lasts all day long and does not transfer or smudge. The product also claims to hold brows in place and I’m sure it would for most people, however I have really thick, long, unruly brow hairs and do need a light coat of clear brow gel to keep my brows in place.

I can’t wait to try more of the exclusive products from Glow Organic, and I will be sure to share my thoughts!

Have you shopped on Glow Organic? Have you tried Hynt, Zao, Couleur Caramel, Nude & Noir, Nui Cosmetics or Antonym?
