It’s feeling well and truly autumnal in the North… cooler, windier and lots of rain! The sun is occasionally peeking through, yet I think it’s safe to say that Summer has left us, up here at least. Nevermind, September is one of my favourite months!
After my last post on my August Empties I thought I’d follow this up with some current favourites, some of which I’ve been using the past month or so and remind me of brighter days, others have a decidedly Fall feel.
My number one favourite at the moment, maybe of the whole year even, is the Antipodes Nirvana Body Wash. I bought this for myself with Lovelula points, as it’s a bit pricey (£14.99 for 500ml) but it’s so worth it… and it was love at first squirt! With wild Blackcurrant, Spearmint Leaf and Cardamom, it reminds me of picking blackcurrants in my Grandma’s garden as a child and the all natural ingredients leave my body clean, soft and smooth. I’ve already purchased a back up!
I use the Nirvana Body Wash with another favourite: my Ecotools Dual Cleansing Ecopouf, which I picked up from TK Maxx for £2.99. I love this because it has one side loofah and the other side is shower puff, but the puff doesn’t loosen or unravel unlike most shower puffs! And it’s got a handy band around it you can slide your hand under. It’s really good for a gentle wash or a good exfoliating scrub!
Another Antipodes fave is the Hallelujah Lime & Patchouli Cleanser. Again this is pricey in my opinion, and I wondered how it could be much different to my budget friendly Sukin Cream Cleanser. But it is! It’s just gorgeous, luxurious and so worth the splurge!
I’m absolutely loving the Lyonsleaf Marshmallow Soften and Rejuvenate Facial Oil, received in the July LoveLula Beauty Box. I’m about half way through. I just can’t get enough of the vetiver in this one, and the marshmallow content is really good for your skin. I’m using this at night and it’s really nice and light on my oily face. I’m even treating my hands and feet to a bit too! And I have a back up.
My favourite and holy grail mask is Blue Labelle Rhassoul Clay powder. I’ve spoken about this before plenty of times on Instagram and featured it in my blog, so it’s only fair to put it in my favourites! Nuff said.
I have found the transition to natural deodorant pretty problematic, until that is, I found Salt of the Earth deodorant. I tried a few natural deodorants that didn’t work for me. Then I came across Miessence deodorant and that worked well for me until I became sensitive to the sodium bicarbonate in it which gave me sore spots and inflammation under my arms. I was finding it difficult to find a natural deodorant that didn’t contain bicarb, until I found this at Holland & Barrett. It is different to other deodorants in that it is a 100% natural crystal deodorant made from alum. I haven’t had an pit problems or pongs since using this and for that reason it is a FAVOURITE!
My current favourite nail polish and a nice one for autumn is by Maggie Anne in the colour olive. I love blue and green polishes but because of my skin tone I struggle finding shades that look nice on my fingers. This colour has the right amount of green, not too yellow and also not too much blue and it’s also not too pale or dark. It’s a perfect mid-toned sage green and looks really cool. The formula is great it goes on evenly, dries quickly and is pretty long wearing. I’m looking forward to owning more shades from this line.
A couple of months back I bought a few new lippies ready for the autumn and winter. I’m an absolute sucker for Ere Perez Rich Olive Oil lipsticks, I just love the formula, and I bought the shade Cocktail. This is an earthy pomegranate colour and is perfect for this time of year. The pigment is fabulous and the formula is so nice on the lips. A proper traditional bullet lipstick but with none of the nasties, you can’t go wrong with Ere Perez.
That’s all for now folks. What are your current favourites for this time of year? Please do share and if you have any questions about any of my favourites, please do leave a comment below.
