Beauty Empties December 2017

Hello Folks! Hope you are all well and having a lovely holiday season. Being the end of December it’s time for another Empties post. I’m going to say a little something about each of the products I used up in November & December, and whether I would repurchase them. I’ve added an easy reference key: 💯 for definite repurchase, ⭕ for may repurchase, ❌ for definitely won’t repurchase. All of the empty packaging was recyclable and has been recycled.

All products mentioned are cruelty free and I will indicate which ones are vegan friendly with a big🇻. Bear with, I finished up a lot of stuff! Plenty of skincare! Colder weather and all that. Grab a brew or a mulled wine. Or water, water is good!

Hynt Beauty Nocturne Mascara in Black, £23. This is the best mascara in the world. Worth every penny. End of story. So glad Glow Organic brought Hynt to the UK. And it now comes in Brown too! I’ve already purchased a back up for when my other mascaras, that are nowhere near as good, run out. 💯

Antipodes Nirvana Hand & Body Wash, 500ml, £14.99, 🇻. This is one of my favourite finds of the year. Gorgeously luxurious and the smell takes me back to picking blackcurrants in Grandma’s garden as a child. Lasted me a good 5 months, totally worth the price tag. Repurchased and have a second backup! 💯

This Works Deep Sleep Pillow Spray, mini. Came in a set of 7 from TK Maxx for £9.99, 🇻. Gorgeous Lavender, Chamomile & Vetiver. Very effective. Would repurchase but looking for a more natural alternative since this does contain a few preservatives and alcohol. ⭕

Briogeo Rosarco Repair Shampoo & Conditioner sample, 🇻. Got this with an order from Naturisimo for £2 I think. Wanted to try it because it’s pretty well hyped! Did not disappoint, going to give the full sizes a whirl when my current products run out. Will probably do a full review. 💯

Organic Surge Moisture Boost Conditioner, 🇻, £3.99, TK Maxx. Think this retails for twice this price but still think it’s worth it. Very moisturising, great detangling properties for my thick, dry hair. Smells lovely. Would recommend. 💯

Got 3 samples of Elemental Herbology Cell Nourish Serum free with an order from Alyaka. Felt nice, 🇻 and probably very effective, but very strongly scented and far too chemically for my liking / too many actives. Prefer more natural and simple skincare so might suit some other folk. ❌

Hurraw! Papaya Pineapple Lip Balm, £4.99, 🇻. Actually got this in a LoveLula Beauty Box. Lasted me ages, favourite lip balm formula, no nasties, already repurchased more Hurraw flavours. 💯

Beauty Kitchen Seahorse Plankton 5 Minute Miracle Mask, 60ml, £14.99. Nice mask, nice ingredients, but certainly no miracles. If you’re going to put the word miracle on a product and it doesn’t perform miracles it’s just disappointing. Have other masks I prefer that are better value and for that reason I won’t repurchase this. ❌

Sample of Balm Balm Hibiscus Face Mask. 60g costs £9.50 & 🇻. Lovely simple powder mask made with organic ingredients… brown rice flour, ground hibiscus & rose geranium essential oil. Bit messy but wonderful 💯

E.L.F. Mineral Infused Mascara, £4.50, 🇻. If you’re looking for a cruelty free, vegan and budget friendly mascara, this is your guy. Would recommend and would repurchase if couldn’t afford my Hynt. 💯

Sukin Antioxidant Eye Serum, 30ml, £14.95, 🇻 & Sukin Cream Cleanser, 125ml, £7.95, 🇻. Can’t say enough good things about Sukin and these are both very good quality and affordable products. Both lovely, gentle and effective. Can also be found (regularly on offer) at Boots, Holland & Barrett, and sometimes for extra cheap at TK Maxx! Would highly recommend; beauty staples. 💯

Soaper Duper Zingy Ginger Hand Wash, 500ml, £6, 🇻. Gorgeously scented, which reminds me of something from my late teens, early twenties! Available at Tesco so super accessible. Cool PCR plastic bottle and Soaper Duper work closely with WaterAid. Love it, already repurchased and got the body wash. 💯

Balm Balm Frankincense Hydrosol Soothing Facial Tonic, 30ml, £8.50, 🇻. My new favourite night time facial mist. It’s done wonders so soothe winter irritation so I’ve bought the 100ml and think this had topped my former favourite the Balm Balm Rose Hydrosol. 💯

Evolve Organic Beauty Daily Defence Moisture Mist, 30ml, £10, 🇻. With Prickly Pear, Moringa Peptides and Hyaluronic Acid, I love to use this to get extra hydration into my skin in the morning before moisturising and makeup. I’ve already repurchased the 100ml and can’t see myself being without this product. 💯

Jason Brightening Apricot Scrubble, 113g, £5.99. If you’re looking for a cruelty free alternative to the St Ive’s Apricot Scrub then this is for you. It lasted me about 10 months so great value for money. I do prefer masking to physical exfoliants but may repurchase if my skin ever gets particularly congested, as it’s super scrubby. ⭕

Evolve Beauty Superfood Shine Shampoo, 60ml trial size, £4, 🇻. Loved it! Super cleansing but moisturising at the same time. Nice creamy lather. Great for travel and full size is 250ml for £12 so fab value. Defo repurchase. 💯

Evolve Organic African Orange Aromatic Body Wash, 60ml, £5, 🇻. Another great travel size and a lovely Christmassy orangey scent. Super silky on the skin. Lovely, definitely repurchase full size. 💯

The Balm Balm Rose Floral Water, 100ml, £, 🇻, was a summer favourite for my face. I still love it and have repurchased it, but the frankincense one is trumping it right now as its soothing my cold weather beaten face. Still use the Rose and probably switch right back to it when my face goes more oily in the warmer months (I have true seasonal combo skin). Balm Balm has a hydrosol for every face… Rose, Frankincense, Chamomile or Neroli. They are all 100% natural, organic and vegan and make the best toners! I urge you to try! 💯

The Corinne Taylor Spirit 100% Natural Room & Linen Mist, 250ml, £15.95, 🇻 is one of my best finds of the year, perhaps ever, and it’s my favourite thing for home scenting. A simple formula with no alcohol or nasties, it contains only spring water, witch hazel, radish root ferment filtrate and organic sage, palo santo, cedarwood and lemon essential oils. I was given a back up by my Mum for Christmas and can’t be without this gorgeous cleansing and grounding blend. Highly recommend! 💯

A’kin Rose de Mai Antioxidant Facial Day Creme, 50ml, 🇻. This is a nice, light day cream I picked up from TK Maxx for I think around £5.99. It retails on Naturisimo for £24. I would pick it up again if I saw it in TK, but not that amazing for £24! ⭕

Blue Labelle Moringa & Raspberry Seed Facial Oil, 10ml try me size, £9.50, 🇻. Picked this one up as I wanted to try another of Blue Labelle’s Facial Oils and this one is my favourite of theirs. Fast became my go to morning oil. 💯

Products I passed on…

I picked up the Noughty Rise & Shine Shampoo and Conditioner🇻from Superdrug as they were on offer (normally £6.99 each). I didn’t enjoy them despite the great scent, just not hydrating enough for me. I perhaps should have chosen the one for very dry hair. I’m going to pass these along. ❌

Madara Smart Antioxidants Anti Fatigue Rescue Eye Cream, 15ml, £31, 🇻. I got this in a LoveLula Beauty Box and had high hopes, as I love the moisturiser from this line. But it’s too thick and heavy for my eyes so this will be passed on to a friend. ❌

Pacifica Cactus Water Micellar Cleansing Tonic, 236ml, £12.99, 🇻 I picked this up because I enjoy the Pacifica Sea Foam Face Wash. I’m not a fan of this though, I tried to love it but I think I probably just don’t like micellar waters in general, too filmy. Rather have a good old two step cleanse.❌

Ogario London Styling Mist, 60ml, £16. Another Beauty Box product. This smells gorgeous but I just don’t find myself reaching for it, as I only tend to use a hair oil or serum. I’m not much into styling my hair. I’m sure a friend with shorter hair will like this but not for me. ❌

Products I had to bin!

Ciaté Wonderwand Mascara, mini, 🇻. This came in the Ciaté X Chloe Morello Beauty Haul Volume 2. I loved it when I first tried it, so much volume and curl! But literally within a couple of weeks it went extremely gloopy and unusable. So disappointed! Probably got a dudd but won’t be trying it again. ❌

Alba Botanica Hawaiian Oil Free Moisturiser, 85g, £10.99. This was my favourite day cream for a long time and I’ve repurchased it twice. However this tub developed a musty, mouldy smell and it was only open a couple of months. I had to throw it, so I won’t have repurchasing it in case it happens again. Such a shame.

Phew that was a lot of empty products! Quite a few that I didn’t like the ones I like are actually loves and some of my stand out products of the year. I’ll have my 2017 Favourites coming soon so look out for that. Thank you for reading and until next time!
