Hello and welcome back to the second installment of my 2017 Favourites. This one is Skincare! As with my last post all these products are Cruelty Free, and I think, as with my Bath, Body & Hair favourites, all products below are Vegan (with the exception of the Honey Lip Scrub which I no longer have). So let’s get on with the good stuff…
Cleansing Oil ~ Blue Labelle Petitgrain & Tamanu Cleansing Oil, 🇻, 50ml, £17.
When my face is really dirty, or I’m wearing a lot of makeup, I really feel the need to use an oil or balm cleanser for my first cleanse in the evening. I initially bought this for my husband who is a blacksmith and needed an oil to break down the grease and grime of the day’s work, but I kind of claimed it! This is by far my favourite because it is formulated for normal to combo / oily skin types.
Cream Cleanser ~ Antipodes Hallelujah Lime & Patchouli Cleanser, 🇻, 200ml, £21.99.
When I’ve had a lighter or no makeup day I like to use a cream cleanser in the evening as my first cleansing step. This one is my favourite of the year, it’s packed full of scrumpy oils and extracts and smells delightful. I thought it was a little pricey for a cleanser, but I think it’s worth it and it’s lasting me ages.
Face Wash ~ Pacifica Sea Foam Complete Face Wash, 🇻, 147ml, £9.99.
I use this face wash every evening as a second cleanse, and every morning in the shower. It’s everything I need in a gel cleanser, nice and creamy, not too foamy, not stripping or drying whatsoever, refreshing and clarifying. It’s just lovely and I have been using this for over a year and am only on my second tube! I think this would suit all skin types and think most people would enjoy it. It also has a lovely seaside smell, slightly coconutty and a bit seaweedy.
Mask ~ Blue Labelle Rhassoul Lava Clay Powder, 🇻, 200g, £14.50.
I’ve been using this mask for ages now. It’s my all time favourite, not just of 2017! It can be mixed with water or hydrosol, oils can be added also. It makes a wonderfully cleansing and softening mask. It doesn’t matter what my skin is feeling like, this always helps and never leaves my skin stripped or dry. This is also excellent value as it can make 40 masks. It can also be used as a body or hair cleanser. I like to use it on my back as I’m prone to break outs and itchy spots.
Scrub ~ Lush Cup O’ Coffee, 🇻, 150g, £7.25.
This is a product I discovered in the latter part of the Summer. It contains coffee, agave, kaolin, glycerine, vanilla and better and it smells so good. It’s a mask you can leave on 10-15 minutes and scrub off, and it’s the only exfoliant I really use. It’s really helpful when my skin is feeling congested and I also find it very hydrating.
Toner Mists ~ Evolve Organic Beauty Daily Defence Facial Mist, 🇻, 100ml, £20 & Balm Balm Frankincense Hydrosol Soothing Facial Tonic, 🇻, 100ml, £18.50.
I like to use the Evolve Mist in the morning before moisturiser and makeup. As it contains hyaluronic acid, I find it helps hydrate and plump my skin ready for makeup. The Balm Balm one I like especially after cleansing in the evening and before my facial oil. It is extremely soothing and frankincense is not only incredibly good for rejuvenating the skin, but it is also good for relaxation and mediation as it improves deep breathing. So perfect for winding down before bed. I have tried a lot of facial mists and these are definitely my go to’s and I cannot be without them.
Facial Oil ~ Lyonsleaf Marshmallow Soften and Rejuvenate Facial Oil, 🇻, 30ml, £12.99.
This was a tough one to choose because I also adore my Blue Labelle Oils, but this is the one I have gone through most of in 2017. I was first introduced to this in my LoveLula Beauty Box, and have since started another bottle. I tend to use this only at night time because it’s rich, and I do find it does wonders for my skin come morning. And I totally love the scent of this, heavy on the vetiver with a touch of rose geranium, I find this extremely grounding within my nighttime routine (after the frankincense then this, no wonder I sleep well). Another product I can’t be without.
Moisturiser ~ Marlehna Bloom Anti Age, 🇻, sample 50p!
Now this is a really difficult category for me to find a favourite in. I have gone through several tubes and tubs of moisturiser and never really found one that I really loved and didn’t want to be without. The only thing that has come close has been Marlehna samples, which I have repeatedly added onto my LoveLula orders over the past few months. (I’ve probably gone through about 15 Marlenha samples, of all their range of moisturisers). I am waiting to use up another product and all my samples then I want to order the Bloom Anti Age. I think the only thing that has been holding me back is the pricetag. It’s £49 for 50ml which would be more than I have ever spent on one beauty item!
Eye Cream ~ Marlenha Petal Delicate Eye Cream, 🇻, sample 50p!
Again, I’m in the same boat as with the moisturiser. I think my favourite eye cream I’ve used in 2017 is this sample from Marlehna and like with the moisturiser, I’m still working up the courage to spend £44 pounds on the full size. I have also really enjoyed the Sukin Antioxidant Eye Serum, 🇻, RRP £14.95 but I picked it up for around £6 from TK Maxx!
Lip Scrub ~ Lush Lip Scrubs, 25g, £5.95.
I currently have the Christmas Edition ‘Sugar Plum Fairy Lip Scrub’ 🇻, which is no longer available. The first one I tried was ‘Honey’ (contains honey), which I bought in May and was still going strong by December, before I dropped the open jar into the shower while it was running and it all dissolved! These scrubs are really effective in getting rid of dry, dead skin, and revealing smoother lips. And they taste good enough to eat!
Lip Balm ~ Hurraw! Lip Balms, 🇻, 4.3g, £4.99.
Again, discovered via my LoveLula Beauty Box, I used the Papaya Pineapple Lip Balm, which I adored! I then got the Moon balm and the Green Tea Balm and I love them, they’re scrummy and work so well. Best lip balms I’ve ever used and no beeswax so Vegan!
And that’s it for my Skincare Faves! I think I keep it pretty simple, there are a lot of steps and things I don’t use in my routine, although I am looking at getting a HA serum as I love Hyaluronic Acid! Keep your eyes peeled for the next and last post of my 2017 faves… Makeup 😍😍😍
What were your skincare faves of the last year? Should I splurge on the Marlenha
