Hi there! After a wee hiatus from blogging (not posted since end of Feb), I’m back. I’ve emerged from the depths of a relentless northern winter, it’s now Spring, and I’m feeling inspired!
I want to share with you a really simple 5 minute makeup look that I am throwing on all the time right now. I don’t usually wear makeup when I’m not at work or going out, but I’ve been feeling the need to brighten up my features and mood of late! So this is my go to look when I’m on a day off and just want to freshen my face up before popping to the shops or going to visit friends and family.
It’s pink based and I think will suit all eye colours, fair to medium skins and all skin undertones, because it’s very soft. It probably wouldn’t work well on deeper skin tones, and I’m sorry about that, but I can only work with products I own because I’ve a light complexion. I’m not a makeup artist so do bear that in mind, lol! Using favourite, tried and trusted brands and products; I will mark Vegan products with a 🌱 and of course nothing here has been tested on animals.
So here we go!
I have been using this BB Cream for a number of years. It’s a go to product as its easy to use and always works. I’m in the shade Light, which is my summer shade but honestly it blends in so well that I can stick with one shade all year round. It gives a light coverage and a soft, blurred finish and is perfect for minimal makeup looks. I apply a pump and a half to a clean, moisturised face and apply to the centre of the face and blend outwards with the fingers. As you can see I’m almost out of this so a repurchase is necessary!
Glossier Stretch Concealer ~ Light (beeswax)
I’ve been enjoying this concealer for several months now and I don’t think I’m even half way through. It has a really unique almost glossy texture to the touch, but pats into the skin beautifully. I use it under the eyes and on my lids and around my nose, mouth and chin where I can get a bit of redness. I don’t know what it’s like for covering spots though, as I don’t tend to get them, which is such a blessing.
I got the Glossier Wowder at the same time as the concealer and it’s a really lovely tinted, finely milled powder which sets the Stretch Concealer wonderfully. Don’t be scared by the colour… the Light/Medium shade adjusts to my skin tone and the colour is undetectable. I also dust this lightly over the rest of my face to take down excess shine. It’s my favourite powder I’ve ever used and it’s not cakey or powdery looking whatsoever and does not dry out the skin.
I’ve recently repurchased this Zao Blush in Lilac Pink after using a full 9g pan last year. I was able to buy a refill from Glow Organic and reuse my original bamboo case, which is just brilliant! It’s a soft, blendable and buildable blush, and as I like a good pink flush, I pile this on my cheeks. I also take this on a fluffy domed eyeshadow brush and run this through my crease to softly contour and brighten the eyes. Then the Lily Lolo highlighter on the usual places and I also pop this on the eyelids and browbones. Cheeks and eyes, done!
Glossier Boy Brow ~ Brown (beeswax)
Hynt Beauty Nocturne Mascara ~ Black* (beeswax)
Another Glossier product now, they’re just so effective for everyday looks. I pop some Boy Brow through my brows. This is a tinted product which has more of a light pomade consistency then a gel. It adds definition and colour plus it does keep the brows in place, which is a big plus for me as my brow hairs are long and unruly. A coat of my holy grail Hynt Beauty Mascara (which also comes in Brown!) and the look is almost done…
Kosås Weightless Lip Colour ~ Rosewater (beeswax + carmine)
The Kosås lipsticks are my favourite formula and I have 4 of the line of 8 shades. Rosewater is a cool but ultra wearable rose pink nude. It’s not a colour I would normally think I could rock, but honestly, it has a touch of mauve to it and it looks so beautiful on everyone I have seen wear it. It feels amazing on the lips and is easy to apply and no need for lip liner.
And that’s me done! Literally takes me 5 minutes and looks soft and pretty yet put together, with no fuss, simple products.
Have you tried any of these products and what do you think?
