Empties March + April 2018

Hi guys and welcome to my Empties. So these are all the things I used up in March and April… quite a lot this month. As always, all products are cruelty free, and I’ll indicate what’s vegan friendly with a 🌿. I’ll say something about each product. If I will definitely repurchase you’ll see a πŸ’―, maybe repurchase is a β•, and if I won’t repurchase it’s a ❌. I hope you find that useful!

Kind Natured Soothing Sea Salt & Bergamot Bath Soak, 300ml, £2.49 (half price offer at Boots currently 26/04/18), 🌿

My husband and I love this bubble bath. It’s softening and soothing and smells really seasidey! We like the corresponding body wash too. Already been repurchased. And it’s regularly on half price offer at Boots so we’ve never paid full price for it. Winner! πŸ’―

Ere Perez Real Rosehip Lip Bar in Life 🌿

Absolutely loved this lip product, it was like a firm waxy tint in bullet form that deposited the right amount of rosey red colour for an everyday lip. It’s the only lip product I’ve ever entirely used up and I’m gutted that they no longer make it. Ere Perez have reformulated and repackaged a lot of their makeup, and I think this is the most comparable product, the Cacao Lip Colour in Dash. Will definitely be picking that one up when it becomes available in the UK.

Evolve Organic Beauty African Orange Aromatic Lotion*, 60ml, £6, 🌿

This stuff is really lovely. Sinks into the skin with no greasy residue and smells divine. My only gripe is that the plastic bottle is very thick making it difficult to squeeze the product out, especially when coming to the end. But the full size does come with a pump dispenser πŸ’―.

Corinne Taylor Spirit Aromatherapy Room & Linen Mist, 100ml, £19.50, 🌿

Now onto my third bottle, I am absolutely in love with the scent of this room & linen mist. It’s made with sage, palo santo, cedarwood and lemon essential oils in an all natural, alcohol free base. I don’t want to be without it and it’s my favourite home fragrance product ever πŸ’―.

Evolve Organic Beauty Daily Defence Moisture Mist*, 100ml, £20, 🌿

Another gem from Evolve, my skin cannot get enough of the Daily Defence Moisture Mist with Hyaluronic Acid. I’m already onto my next bottle and have another one on the way. This is one of my holy grail skincare essentials. Would suit all ages and skin types to boost hydration levels. I use it morning and night after cleansing and before serums / oils πŸ’―.

PHB Ethical Beauty Brightening Hand Wash with Neroli & Ylang Ylang, 250ml, £9.95, 🌿

My Mum bought me this one for Christmas as we both love the PHB handcream in this variety. I did enjoy this but not sure if I would buy it again just because it is quite expensive for a small amount and I can pick up a basic Sukin or Faith In Nature handwash for about half the price in TK Maxx. The handcream however is worth the splurge! Yeah just not sure on this one, it is simply handwash after all β•.

Laboratoire Du Haut-Segala Organic Cornflower Water, 100ml, £8.30, 🌿

I sought this product out as I was looking for something to soothe my eyes since the cold winter elements were playing havoc with my eyes. It is lovely to mist over the eyes at any time of day and is helpful on a cotton pad for removing any remnants of stubborn eye makeup after cleansing. I’ve now got the 250ml which is only Β£3.50 more than the 100ml! πŸ’―.

Henné Color Henna in Brown, 100g, ca.£5, 🌿

This is the brand of henna I like to use. I mix brown and auburn for my hair and I use the black one for my brows. They work really well, cover greys and last wonderfully. I buy mine from EBay from a seller called ‘newlifeherbal’. Already have stacks of these in. πŸ’―

Corinne Taylor Purify Soy Aromatherapy Candle, 300g, £26.50, 🌿

Super impressed with this candle – all natural ingredients as only soy wax and essential oils. This one is scented with Juniperberry, Cedarwood and Lemongrass and works superbly alongside the Spirit Room & Linen Mist. Burn time exceeded that stated and burnt evenly and entirely making it excellent quality and value. πŸ’―

Balm Balm Frankincense Hydrosol Soothing Facial Tonic, 100ml, £16.50, 🌿

This is an absolutely lovely hydrosol which I enjoyed to use at night. Some people do not enjoy the smell of this, but as I enjoy earthy, woody and musty scents I actually quite enjoy its fragrance. It is superbly soothing and only slightly trumped by my Evolve facial mist. Would definitely recommend. πŸ’―

Balm Balm Rose Floral Water Hydrosol, 30ml, £7.50, 🌿

Another super facial mist from Balm Balm, if you don’t like the scent of frankincense, but still want all of the hydrating goodness, try the Rose floral water mist! This has a really clean and natural rose scent and is also super hydrating. Also great for dampening beauty sponges for applying foundation, or eye shadow brushes for foiling shimmery eyeshadow. Highly recommend! πŸ’―

Isla Apothecary Blood Orange & Vanilla Sugar Scrub, 60g, sold as part of the Isla Apothecary Discovery Kit, £21, 🌿

I can’t tell you how much I love this stuff, it smells of Terry’s Chocolate Orange! Plus it’s also a great body scrub! I wrote a whole blog post review on the Isla Apothecary Discovery Kit, and I still think it’s one of the most beautiful green beauty treats you could gift to yourself or a loved one πŸ’―.

Walden Natural Perfumes, Two Eternities, 5ml, £9, or as part of the Walden Natural Perfumes Gift Set 5 x 5ml, £30. 🌿

Walden Natural Perfumes are a range of natural and vegan perfumes produced by the sister company of Lovelula. They are all equally lovely, and Two Eternities is described as “a garland of Forest Flowers including Wild Roses, Jasmine and Iris floating above a fresh Citrus base of Bergamot and Sweet Orange Oil.” It’s delicious! If you would like to read my review of all of the Gift Set of all 5 fragrances, click here. Definitely recommend for any fragrance lover πŸ’―.

Sample of the Balm Balm Hibiscus Face Mask, 40g, £9.50, 🌿

This is a great, scrubby and very effective mask which only contains brown rice flour, ground hibiscus and rose geranium essential oil. I have bought the sample size on a few occasions now. However the problem with this mask is the powder does not mix with water all that well, and has a tendency, once the liquid has soaked into your face, to flake off. It does not seem to fare any better mixed with an oil. I think it needs something sticky in it like a bit of pink clay powder, in order to mix to a creamier mask. For this reason I won’t repurchase ❌.

Sample of Hynt Beauty Skin Prep Serum Bioactive Marine Complex*, £4, or full size*, 30ml for £40 🌿

This was absolutely stunning to use! It’s wonderfully formulated with beautiful ingredients and is cooling on application to the skin. It’s a one stop serum, moisturiser & primer and works beautifully under makeup. Hynt also make a Sun Prep* SPF, moisturiser primer hybrid, which I am currently testing out before I choose which one to buy in the full size πŸ’―.

Ogario London Styling Mist for Natural Hold & Volume, 60ml, Β£16

I actually received this product perhaps a year ago in a Lovelula Beauty Box and I’ve only just finished it, not because it has lasted me well, but because I hardly ever used it. It just didn’t bring anything to my haircare routine and I wouldn’t recommend or repurchase. If you want something to spray into your hair before drying, I much prefer the Yarok range ❌.

Bee Good Honey & Propolis 2 in 1 Cream Cleanser, 100ml, Β£11.50

This cleanser was passed on to me from my Mum and I think she actually picked it up in TK Maxx if I remember rightly. I LOVE cream cleansers and it was a lovely, thick creamy consistency. I wouldn’t pay full price for it though, and the ingredients are not totally clean. I would pick it up in TK though.β•

Hurraw! Moon Balm Night Treatment Lip Balm, 4.3g, £4.99 🌿

Hurrah for Hurraw I say! I just love their range of vegan lip balms and this one did not disappoint! Made with cold pressed, raw, organic and wildcrafted ingredients, they are the scrummiest balms I have come across. They last me for ages and stay put on the lips providing hours of nourishment. Plus the packaging is really sturdy as well as convenient for taking on the go. No mucky fingers in pots here! Definite favourite and I would highly recommend πŸ’―.

Rahua Travel Size Classic Conditioner, 60ml, £9, 🌿

Stunning! Favourite luxury conditioner here! I’ve gone through several of these smaller sizes as I have received some in beauty boxes. I have also got through an entire full size, which yes is expensive but it lasted me about 6 months. I cannot get enough of the classic Rahua scent, which contains Palo Santo oil, which I just ADORE! πŸ’―

The Handmade Soap Company Grapefruit and May Chang Hand Cream Tube, 30g, Β£9.95

I love The Handmade Soap Company and I love May Chang, so having had good luck with some of their other products I decided to try this. It’s a very small tube for the price I think, and I was disappointed that it smelt more of carrier oils / base ingredients than May Chang. It was also quite thick and hard to work into the skin meaning I probably used more than I really needed. So wanted to love this one πŸ’―.

Laidbare Working 9 to 5 Anti-ageing Cream, 50ml, £7.99, 🌿

Another one that featured in a Lovelula Beauty Box. I have to say, for the price, you really cannot go wrong with this moisturiser. It was light and sank in well and worked great for my combination/oily skin. Would recommend this brand for anyone looking to get into more natural skincare at an affordable pricepoint. Has anyone tried their Vitamin C Serum? πŸ’―

PHB Ethical Beauty Anti-ageing Facial Wash with Mandarin & Pomegranate, 100ml, £14.95, 🌿

I am in two minds with this cleanser. On the one hand it cleans my face REALLY well and feels refreshing and firming, but on the other hand the citrus oils sting the eyes and it is a slightly drying product. I would say if you have really oily skin and don’t have sensitive eyes then this product will be great. Sorry Mum, it was a gift from her. I used it all up but don’t think I will buy it again as I have other cleansers that work better all round for me β•.

Antipodes Nirvana Body Wash, 500ml, £14.99, 🌿

If you’ve reads my Empties or Favourites before you’ll have probably seen this! It’s the best, my holy grail, the most heavenly scented body wash in the world (it reminds me of picking blackcurrants from my Grandma’s fruit garden)! It cleanses gently and thoroughly with no residue leaving skin soft and supple. It is most definitely worth the splurge. If you are looking for a more affordable pricepoint and something that’s easily accessible I love Soaper Duper and Kind Natured too. But you must try Nirvana at least once in your life. I wish Antipodes would come out with a body mist in the same scent! πŸ’―

PHB Ethical Beauty Soothing Body Wash with Organic Lavender, 250ml, £11.95, 🌿

Onto a body wash I sadly didn’t enjoy. My Mum passed this to me as she found it sticky. I had the same experience, it left my skin feeling filmy. And the lavender scent was a musty lavender. For Β£4 more and double the product you can get the Antipodes and be in heaven. I do find PHB a bit hit and miss. Their scrubs, eyeshadows, hand cream, all great, but this one is a hard pass I’m afraid πŸ’―.

Corinne Taylor pack of 5 Organic Himalayan Bath Salts, 5 x 75g, £21.95, 🌿

Ahh, more yummies from Corinne; this is a fantastic way to sample her Organic Himalayan Bath Salts and a lovely gift! All these contain Himalayan Crystal Salt, Coconut Oil and essential oils and make a lovely bath treat. This pack also makes a great gift. I have a full blog post on this sampler pack here πŸ’―.

Faith In Nature Aloe Vera Conditioner, 740ml, £5.99 TK Maxx find, or 400ml for £5.35 here 🌿

This is a really good conditioner and very affordable, especially if you find this jumbo size in TK Maxx like I did. It’s a more runny consistency than most conditioners and great for detangling. It’s has an uplifting scent, and because it is formulated with tea tree and citrus essential oils and is easily to comb through the hair, it is excellent for any parents of young children to use for wet combing if their little ones have “passengers” in their hair! I’ve used it on friend’s children and it worked a treat! πŸ’―

Blue Labelle Petitgrain & Tamanu Cleansing Oil*, 100ml, £24, 🌿

If you are looking for high quality, excellent value facial, body and hair oils you cannot put a foot wrong with the Blue Labelle range. This facial cleansing oil is formulated for oily and combination skins and believe me when I tell you it is absolute perfection! It takes off dirt, sweat, SPF, makeup, without stripping or drying your skin. It can be used alone or as a first cleanse in a two step cleansing routine. There is also a Chamomile and Avocado Cleansing Oil for dry skin, which I know is hugely popular too. I can also tell you that these oils work great on faces that work in dirty, oily environments, such as a blacksmithing husband. Oils lift oils! If you want to read a round up on Blue Labelle products click here. This is a definite staple in my skincare routine πŸ’―
